Willow and the Magic She Carries

A story of spell jars, blessing bags, and little bundles of intention

Rain tapped softly on the cottage windows as Willow helped Grandma Bamble sort herbs into tiny bowls.

“Are we making tea?” Willow asked.

“Not today,” Grandma said, tying up a bundle of lavender. “We’re making blessings you can carry.”

Her mother walked in with a basket of small glass jars and cloth pouches. “Would you like to make a spell jar or a blessing bag, Willow?”

Willow’s eyes sparkled. “Can I do both?”

“Of course,” Grandma smiled. “One to keep, and one to give.”

They sat at the kitchen table, where everything smelled of rosemary, chamomile, and warm honey.

First, Willow made a spell jar.

She started by writing a tiny note:

“May I sleep peacefully and dream sweet things.”

Then she added lavender for rest, rose petals for love, and a pinch of salt for protection. Her mother helped her seal the jar with a beeswax top.

“It’s like a little bedtime spell,” Willow whispered, holding it close.

Next came the blessing bag.

“Think of someone you love,” Grandma said. “And what you wish for them.”

Willow thought of her friend Juniper, who sometimes got nervous at school.

She filled a tiny cloth pouch with mint for courage, amethyst for calm, and a bit of calendula for joy. Then she tied it with golden thread and added a small pinecone charm.

“Is this enough?” she asked.

Her mother placed a hand over Willow’s heart. “You already gave it the most important thing—your love and your intention.”

They placed both creations on the altar for a moment, offering a simple blessing:

“May these gifts bring comfort, magic, and light.

May they carry kindness into the night.”

That evening, Willow tucked her spell jar beneath her pillow, and the next day, she gave the blessing bag to Juniper with a smile.

“What’s in it?” Juniper asked.

Willow grinned. “A little bit of Earth. A little bit of magic. And a whole lot of love.”
